Early photographs were daguerreotypes, noted for their clarity and crisp images.
People traveled, sometimes over great distances, to the photographer’s studio. They took their best clothing with them or rented suits and dresses from the studio.
The serious expressions on many faces is a reflection of the gruelling photographic process. Exposure time could take up to two minutes, so arm rests and head rests were used to help people hold still. It is for this reason that small children and babies
