The ABC’s of Children’s Authors

It’s never too early to invest in books for your little ones.  Even infants love the sound of your voice as you read them a nursery rhyme or short story.  If you are a parent, grandparent, relative of any kind or the friend of a wee one, choosing a book can be daunting.  You probably remember the ones you loved as a child, and chances are these classics are still a great choice. But there are also many new children’s authors that deserve to be part of any child’s library.

The Killaloe and District Public Library can help you with that. Our Babes in Bookland program has published a great little resource.  Called “The ABC’s of Children’s Authors”, it collects more than 40 recommendations that come out of our five years of reading to little ones at the library.  There are classic authors ( Eric Carle, Margaret Wise Brown), great new authors ( Kathryn Otoshi, Mo Willems), as well as excellent First Nations and Inuit authors.

This guide will help you choose children’s books that little ones will want to read again and again, and grown-ups won’t tire of !  This $10 coil bound booklet makes a great gift too, and all the proceeds go to the Killaloe and District Public Library to support children’s programming. You can purchase the booklet at the library.
